I always ask customers what they were looking to spend. Then tell them 'here's what you can get for that'....the price list is golden.

I totally agree, but I have found what works for me is charging by the pose, i.e., head and shoulders, half length, full length, # of subjects, etc. This way I can suggest the size I think is appropriate. I do this because I hate working very small and I don't want people picking small sizes just to save money.

We don't think of the business side of it because we are artist and we're focus on our craft but once I started thinking of sales as an art form then I was easy. His right you have to have a price in mind ready and expect them to haggle.

I have a price that I charge, I always feel bad for what a I charge. I am always humbled when they like the painting well enough to buy it. I under estimate my talent.

Hi, do ask for full payment upfront? Ive had clients that didnt pay after the work is done. It was traumatizingly painful having worked for 35 days and back pain.

It would be nice if you made enough to go to the dentist and get that tooth fixed. Or maybe that's your trademark.
