You were the very 1st furniture refinisher I started watching, and then following. I love all the content you put out. I hope you never stop putting content up on YouTube. I knew from one of your other videos that you lived in Georgia & so do I, but when you said during this video that you’re from Indiana, I was like, WHAT! Me too! I’m originally from Indianapolis. I moved to Georgia in 2002. I’ve lived in Rome twice & in Newnan. Newnan was my fave but I have grandchildren now & I didn’t when I left, so I moved back so I could be closer to them. Thanks for doing the masterclass. I’ve always wanted to know how to do this finish.

I’ve watched all the different videos you have on the gel stain brush techniques. I finally bought everything and it turned out fantastic. Took multiple coats to get a darker finish, but it turned out amazing. Wish we could post pictures here of the finished products that you inspired us to create!❤

I'm an artist and I use oil paints. To clean my brushes I do the following: (1) wipe off most of the oil paint using paper towels, (2) rinse brushes in mineral spirits which is keep in a Silicoil Brush Cleaning Tank (a glass jar with a metal coil on the bottom which you drag the brush back and forth on), (3) wash brushes with Fels-Naptha soap, (4) dry the brushes...prop them up at a slight angle so water drains away from the brush ferrule. I wait 24 hrs before using these brushes again. I wear rubbber gloves while cleaning with Fels-Naptha soap, which is cheap, releases more oil paint from the brushes, and makes brushes soft :)

Thank you for this content!! I am using it to refinish a bed-frame and am about to start dry brushing. You are my teacher ❤️

Murphy’s oil soap for cleaning off the brushes/tools that either hardened from poly or have oil based stain on them. Depending on how long it’s been on there you may have to go one or two rounds soaking them, but it works like a charm and the brushes turn out like new when you’re all done :)

This is beautiful! Think I’ll start on a tiny stool or something very small first. It looks like a LOT of work. 😄 Well done you. Best faux wood finish I’ve seen. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🇮🇪

Thanks for this!
I use both polycrylic and the oil modified version and love them both. I choose between them based on whether I’m willing to have the slightly warmer effect the oil modified gives. I apply both with a foam brush and I haven’t noticed a difference in how easily they wash out.

My father was a car painter and when I washed his freshly painted cars I would use the sham cloth to drag the water off the cars without scratching the new paint. Worked wonders

Hi. I am really waiting for someone to do pottery barn look on chairs also. There are so many diys for dining tables and dressers but so far I found none for the chairs, especially dining. Hope you will do a project soon 😊

I used some of those green brushes with the white handle today on some furniture! So very handy!

I love your technique and the end-result is stunning. Hoping my broken shoulder heals and I can use my right arm to try your technique. (Of course I broke my predominant shoulder.)

I just found your channel and love, love, love your faux PB pieces. So much so, I made my husband sit and watch pt. 4 with me. He was amazed too. I would love you to share your secrets with me.

How did I miss that we'd moved beyond the java glaze? Love the lighter color!

I love this Look that you introduced us all to and have refined over the years. I also love this table transformation with the black chairs. Question about mixing the Oil modified polyurethane with paint... If it was mixed one to one with a light color, such as a green, will it change the color of it? Also, when using it as a top coat, will it yellow ?
