We've been here before. Leading into WWII our physical fitness as a nation was in about the same place as it is today. This caused a major shortfall in recruitment/drafting resulting in the US entering WWII 4 million personnel short. Out of that, federal policies mandating physical fitness education and nutritional standards were implemented into primary education. The result of this was Generation X, which was the healthiest generation ever. Overtime, the physical fitness and nutritional mandates have been removed, and now we're here. Too many powerful people are making way too much money off our poor health for things to ever change from the top down.

I agree people don’t take their health serious enough and bites them in the ass. I’m 62 years old 5‘9“ tall weigh 198 pounds I bench press 225 for six sets of 10 when I jump up to 250 I do six sets of six I could do more, but I am just protecting myself as I get older, but you cannot sit on your butt and do nothing life will crush you if you do

I dont get it… How someone like you has just 110k of subscribers… Some of the most valid and informative chanel out there… You do great job man … the thing I like the most is that you put health on the first place and understand your sh*t really really well… yes there is a society problem but the problem has its own name… its a comfort. We live in an instant age, one phone call age when you can live your life without a need of leaving your sofa… When I look at the shortcuts everyone is taking I am thinking about the hard times we are heading on… God bless you and your stuff you sharing with us… Is there any platform where I can subscribe and read articles or watch videos of yours? Ive got like a ton of questions that are running in my head abou training and I feel that I finally found a well of of wisdom and someone who I can trust.. been in the game for 10years … I am trying to figure out new concepts of training have a gazillion questions I would like to share and take a response from you… Is there any way to contact you for free/for payment? thanks a lot

What would your standards be for a police officer?

Great video Matt! I'm from the UK, I'm sure we have the same problems here. I know for a fact, the physical standards for the police force over here, have lessened over the past 10 years. It's a sad state of affairs...!

I agree with everything you've said except for there being any genders "in between" male and female.

Powerful commentary, I don’t know what it’s gonna take to change the standards of first responders and some places get paid a lot of money but in today’s economy with inflation, especially if you have a family, $70, 000 is not taking you very far

Really enjoyed this video. The seeds of victimhood and 'everybody get a trophy' mentalities have sprouted in the U.S. Thanks for keeping viewers motivated and educated, Matt!

Good points. It's also that way in the military. The branches have a hard time filling their ranks because the population isn't interested and if they do happen to find individuals, they have to lower the standards to get them in.

I don't have a tin foil hat but this isn't happening by accident. The last place you want weak personnel is in the police, fire, EMT or military sector.

Having a hard time imagining any first responder who can't dl 225 or bp 60% of body weight

At my workplace we have standing desks, it would be good if more businesses had these.

I also think that the reason why America has such a bad obesity problem is because we are not promoting hard enough, the most basic things that we can do to maintain a general sense of well-being in fitness like going for 10 minute walks or getting some kind of stretch in. Instead, you have fast food places within a mile of wherever you live, constant promotions from delivery services like Uber eats or DoorDash, which further encourages people to stay immobile, encouraging fat positivity or acceptance(which wasn’t even a thing almost a decade or so ago) and promoting bullshit weight loss fads like Ozempic which only further encourages people to take the easy way out without thinking about the long-term ramifications of taking these drugs which are supposed to be for people who are actually diabetic and need to lose weight.

All the while, all these things are helping to make the healthcare system even more shitty. And that’s only the tip of the iceberg. We have to do a better job as a society in this country, promoting healthy eating habits. We also have to, on the other end of the spectrum, not glamorize getting bigger and stronger at the expense of your health and well-being. Because I actually know a guy who is pretty damn big and he looks unhealthy in the face and body, but he’s obsessed with how big and muscular he is and his followers mindlessly love it and even encourage him to get bigger. It’s sad.
