My name is Jens Larsen, Danish Jazz Guitarist, and Educator. The videos on this channel will help you explore and enjoy Jazz. Some of it is how to play jazz guitar, but other videos are more on Music Theory like Jazz Chords or advice on how to practice and learn Jazz, on guitar or any other instrument.

The videos are mostly jazz guitar lessons, but also music theory, analysis of songs and videos on jazz guitars.

Jens emotionless humour is hilarious, sometimes I’m not even sure if what he is saying is a joke or not....

I am new to jazz and I am starting with the Take the A Train one position lessons provided and learning some comping to Jazz Blues. I've learned that keeping my goals VERY simple will hopefully lead to success over time. I wanted learn Take the A Train in and out with the main melody, comping, scales, arpeggios and finally soloing. I'm hoping keeping it simple and not trying to learn to much at once will lead to success. Thanks for the support Jens!

My only guitar instructor (classical) about 45 years ago said all really need to know is the Major Scale (Western Music) and take it from there. Really quite true but I did not get it at the time. It was the 70's and I was in love with the singer/songwriter era. I did love James Taylor finger style then found the Windom Hill guitarists as was blown away. Then I found Wes 😁

I've found learning Jazz opens up opportunities in other types of music. In other words it helps me understand music in general. It teaches me where it is and how to get there. Thx Jens p.s. I have learned some cool jazz tunes

Your comment on “do you even like listening to jazz” always gets me. It always makes me question why I’m learning it. I mostly listen to prog metal (and was surprised to see you mention Meshuggah). I do like some fusion, but not so much the straight ahead stuff. But I’ve been learning a lot from your videos and I think they’re helping me learn skills that aren’t only useful for playing jazz standards.

What is said is so true for many people. I think it find its roots in the fact that people already form an idea about jazz (or other stuff) and hold that idea to be truth. So they are convinced jazz is the result of using 'magic' scales and they are dying to know what scales those are... While in reality they already have the wrong idea and probably are looking for the wrong awnsers and therefor posing the wrong questions. If you don't know what jazz is... just ask someone whoe does. I was lucky and had a friend who could introduce me to the building blocks of the genre. Great video, with the best information a beginner could ask for.

This made me a bit relieved that I don’t have to learn every single mode of the Harmonic and melodic minor scales😂

I’m just beginning to learn jazz guitar. I’ve loved jazz all my life. I’m not good with face-to-face teaching and I am finding your videos some of the best resources on the platform. Thank you 🙏🏼 Listening a lot to Jo Zawinul at the moment.

I just came from checking out Rotem Sivan because you have a playlist on him, but you know I understand your teaching style a lot easier, I learn more easily from your videos. I appreciate you taking time to be a really good teacher as well as a guitarist, and taking time to plan how to explain concepts cohesively and concisely. It's very obvious the thought you put into your videos. Thank you teacher, I am learning a lot.
