Do liners really affect airfrying?

The week on is over, the commenters had their say, but where they right? Are liners in an airfryer really doing the devils work?

I use foil takeaway containers ! But 50 at a time sometimes I use them twice depending on what I've cooked.. works a treat...just put them in recycling bin after 😅

Since the whole point of air frying is that hot air flows down along the sides, under the grate at the bottom and then up past the food and then repeats that cycle, a silicone liner is will absolutely worsen the result. Lazy convenience over quality. Having to was the unit after cooking a meal doesn't strike me as very arduous. Plus, that stuff's all dishwasher safe in a proper air fryer.

I smell a potentially new format: The Great British Fry Off. Put two things in the airfryer with only one compartment having a liner, and see what's the best. Do this a couple of times (or maybe an entire month) and see who the winner is.

Make sure to do the cheese last because that's going to be a pain to clean off of the unlined one.

Recently bought a Tefal duel drawer. Tried chips, one side with silicone liner and the other unlined, chalk and cheese. Lined side awful chips, none lined quite good. McCain oven chips next.

I use paper liners if doing things like sausages etc or anything that you think of I don't really wanna be cleaning and scraping this, Saves so much hassle at the end of the day.

What about the paper liners which are much thinner than silicone. Can you test those

I got gifted a brand new air fryer so I immediately bought a liner and assumed right off the rip that some things would be better with and some not so much but my thing is is how do you wash the liner without damaging it?!?
