Ahead of monsoon session, Sonia, Rahul Gandhi head to US for her check-up

Sonia Gandhi left for the United States for a routine medical check-up on Sept 12. The Congress president is accompanied by her son & Cong leader Rahul Gandhi. Cong chief spokesperson Randeep Singh Surjewala informed in a tweet. He said, “Congress president Smt Sonia Gandhi is travelling today onwards for a routine follow up and medical check up, which was deferred due to the pandemic. She is accompanied by Sh. Rahul Gandhi. We take this opportunity to thank everyone for their concern and good wishes." Sonia Gandhi is expected to be away for around a fortnight while, Rahul is expected to return within a week. Sonia will miss more than half of the Monsoon Session of Parliament. Ahead of her departure, Sonia Gandhi carried out major organisational changes. She reconstituted the Congress Working Committee & her team of office bearers. She also formed a panel to help her in operational matters till next session of the AICC.
