I hate how good this is.
I imagine him making duck noises while shaking his head around to get the sound effects.

I didn't even realize that the fire was lit and I was waiting to see the blaze 💀

If igniting matches are this satisfying in real life, we would need more firefighters.

Basically the tip of matchstick has red phosphorus and other substance known as antimony trisulfide and potassium chlorate, when the tip of matchstick is rubbed against the rough surface of the match box then the red phosphorus undergoes spontaneous combustion and gets converted into white phosphorus which ignites the potassium chlorate, Then this potassium chlorate ignites the antimony trisulfide and the antimony trisulfide produces enough heat to make the splinter/piece of wood used in the match stick to catch fire.

This has to be one of the best shorts on YouTube. No ‘cheesy’ commentary, no clickbait title/thumbnail, and a seamless loop transition 👏

Me: yes

Reminds me to ancient Greek philosophy that everything contains the element of water

This is just awesome. People 20 years ago would have never been able to see this.

Why it bubbles: The wood doesn't actually "burn". Heat decomposes the lignin and cellulose in the wood, releasing gaseous compounds and water. The water evaporates - _hence the bubbles_ - and the gasses ignite in the presence of oxygen. What's left is mostly a carbon matrix with a porous structure due to the spaces left by the vapour bubbles.

How satisfying, educational, and hypnotic your video was. Nice loop!

This must be at least partially CGI. Not sure what camera equipment would be capable of capturing microscopic slow motion, while following the match tip perfectly.
