Series 13 - Episode 4 | This film was first broadcast: 2017

Award-winning hotelier Alex Polizzi continues her quest to turn the UK's hotels of horror into relaxing retreats. Alex's mission in this long-running format is to salvage some of the worst run establishments and help their owners turning their flagging businesses into profitable ventures. Along the way, there's dubious decor, questionable cleanliness and sometimes even family feuds to contend with. Using the tricks of the trade, The Hotel Inspector brings their no-nonsense approach and practical intelligence to bear on every level of the hotel trade. It's a wake-up call for businesses that would otherwise be facing closure.

He took on board all Alex said with a laugh and a paintbrush. What a lovely man.

There’s a lovely review written for a Dec 2023 stay praising Richard’s - Colliters Brook Farm and his above and beyond hospitality. A 5 star review for value, location and of course, service! Giving him an “Excellent” rating.
Bravo Richard!

This was one of the better episodes. I love when the owners actually are excited to take Alex's advice instead of fighting with her.

Richard seems to be a really nice guy and appears doing well with the Farm. The reviews on Tripadvisor are mostly 5 star - none lower than average. It looks like there's a campground now too. He's a hard worker and deserves success. ~All the best to Richard and his family 💗

What a really nice hard-working dedicated man Richard is, he was dealt a bad set of cards and is trying so hard, I heartily wish him well.

Five minutes in and I am already rooting for Richard. What a thoroughly beautiful establishment and lovely owner. It feels like the Bank and Council really did a job on him, you have to wonder if parties were in cahoots over that. I am rooting for his business to pull through. He and his family definately deserve the win, the personal cost is high and he has invested so much sweat equity, it would be heartbreaking if they lost it. I have to go look it up now to see how it's going.

I truly wish Richard and his family the success that they deserve. Such lovely, hard working folk, and a stunningly beautiful venue. One of my favourite episodes so far!

In an era of more billionaires than ever, Richard is the kind of guy you WILL him to be successful. At his core, he's a good guy. Passionate, gracious, charismatic, humble. I wish him every success!

Richard is a star. I hope he and his business are thriving.

The council was appalling. Making him stop all work and then withdraw the plans. Richard should have been compensated.

16:12 - Richard might be colour blind because he calls it "battleship grey" bc he can't see the red in the purple. That would explain the chaotic colour scheme. God bless him, he is trying so hard.

I remember watching this episode when it was first broadcast and thinking what a lovely man Richard was. An absolute gentleman, so receptive to Alex's suggestions and willing to listen. I hope business is going well for him because if anyone deserves it, he does.

How the council can just drop a bombshell and bring someone to financial ruin, walk away scot-free and leave the poor owner to pick up the pieces and is CRIMINAL. I would have sued the F*CK out of them!!!

What a gracious and enthusiastic man for Alex to work with.He was so open to please and always was willing to take on and do the necessary work. I hope she does a follow up show on most of her success with hoteliers.❤ Great job, this was so pleasant to watch.🌞🥰🤸‍♀️🙋‍♀️🤗

Alex is an absolute star (obviously!) but in this episode so is Richard, he might not have been great at planning and joined up thinking but he knew more then enough so when he had access to such a top flight expert to LISTEN to her and fully take on board what she said. Truly top stuff and I so hope Richard & his family are doing well, they fully deserve it ❤❤

The grounds and upkeep of the exterior of this venue were very impressive. You could tell Richard was a hard working man. His willingness to make necessary changes, was absolutely to his advantage in pulling out of the financial situation he found himself in. Here’s to years of much success, and growth. Great job Alex!

It has to be incredibly frustrating when you see someone failing to such a degree and they don’t listen to a obvious expert..But, He seems completely open…I’m rooting for him and the fam….It’s true intelligence when you can step back and place fresh eyes on any given space or situation…I completely adore Alex and her no nonsense

Its actually really nice to see someone genuinely interested in taking Alex's help.
Im so sick of these know-it-all B&B owners who call her in and think they are running a Hilton and can do her job better than her.
This man got into a state through no fault of his own and was at the end of his rope.

Well done, i wish him all of the very best for the future. He really REALLY deserved this

This by far is the owner that I am pulling for the most. A truly wonderful man that has been forced into a situation that was entirely beyond his control. All the very very best to him and his equally wonderful
