Thank you so much for this. Bad Tom is my 2nd cousin 2x removed and Judge Josiah Combs is my 4th great uncle. I was raised in Mousie and Quicksand KY. I had no idea I was related until I started doing my ancestry tree. My dad is a Combs and his mother is a Smith.

I'm from Kentucky, born and raised. I've heard of this story before, but I've never heard it told in such detail. Thanks JD, i thoroughly enjoyed it!!

We all have a choice to make, to choose good or evil.
Thank God for his long suffering he has towards people and the mercy and grace he gives us .
At the end of this story it was evidence of God's love and forgiveness he shows to each of us who will accept him as our savior.
Thank you JD.
GOD BLESS.

Good job, again J.D. The stats on a troubled life often start with lack of family unit as a foundation. The prisons are filled with those stories. Good people can crash and burn when love and guidance are absent. God bless Tom Smith and all of his family.

I love how you pulled other characters and events from one of your other books! I had just listened to the story about the feud between the lawyer and businessman (can’t remember names) in Hazard, then you used that in this story. Unbelievable how phenomenal you are at writing. Impressive! I’m in awe of your skills and talents. I’ve been binge watching your videos this evening while I finish knitting a hoodie. I’m planning on knitting and crocheting a large amount of warm clothing and projects to donate to some of the people affected by the devastation caused by Helene. I’m encouraging every knitter, crocheter and seamstress who listens to this channel to use your skills to help keep these people warm throughout this upcoming Winter with all of the projects we can and have handcrafted. I know warm clothing can be purchased from stores, but donating handcrafted items will uplift them knowing we care enough to hand make something for them. I just wish I could get more projects completed quicker! Winter is coming too soon! They need hats, scarves, mittens, sweaters, socks, leg warmers, shawls and blankets. There are quite a few organizations/churches in those areas that are collecting donations to distribute to those who are in need. I hope everyone has a blessed week.

Thanks JD! I was always told by my Great Aunts that we were related to Bad Tom Smith. I recently found out, through some genealogy work, that he is my 1st Cousin 5x removed. Thank you for this biography, your storytelling ability is unmatched!

JD, thank you for this story of Bad Tom Smith. He did some terrible things in a lawless time. But in the end, he finally saw/heard God calling him. He gave his life to God & he was forgiven. When we confess our sins & know that Christ died for us~~ we are saved! So was Tom!

Thank you. For some reason, we were not told the stories about this type of History of our Commonwealth. I was taught to stay away from certain places in Kentucky; but, I was never told why. In fact, we were not allowed to ask, 'Why?". These things happen over 100 years ago; but, the taint has stayed. Hopefully after my generation passes the taint will die with us. You do a great job of telling these stories.
