What is the cadence of the second FASTEST marathon runner ever?

It depends where you look.

If we look at him 2/3rds into the race, he presents with a cadence of 182 steps per minute.

HOWEVER, if we even look 5 km afterwards, he actually presents with a cadence of 191 steps per minute.

The biggest reason for the differences is his pace.

During the first clip with the lower cadence, he is running at roughly a 4:40 min per mile pace (2:54 min per km).

During the second clip of him running at higher cadence, he is running at a 4:27 min per mile pace (2:46 min/km).

The lesson here is that cadence is not a constant factor when you run.

It is a dynamic variable.

This is influenced by many different factors like your pace, environment, fatigue, and shoes.

So maybe...

You should not get too hung up on sticking to one particular cadence when you run.

Imma be honest, don’t fully understand cadence, if you wouldn’t mind explaining a bit about it, I’d love to learn more.

When I am jogging alone in the woods I have a quite constant cadence of 80-85 steps per minute.
This barely varies wether I am running at 6 or at 9 minutes per Kilometer.
Only when I get past that point to 5, 4 or 3 minutes per Kilometer my cadence increases.

I'm surprised that you mentioned cadence being influenced by pace. In my understanding, it's more accurate to say that pace is a consequence of cadence and stride length. Cadence can indeed be affected by stride length, and vice versa. What's crucial to note is that cadence and stride length act as independent variables, while pace serves as the dependent variable in this context.
