🗽 Why do a million people gather in the heart of NYC to watch the iconic Times Square ball drop on New Year’s Eve? 🍾 🕛 Because it’s one of the world’s biggest celebrations and also one of the wildest! 🎉 With no open businesses and minimal restrooms, some folks wait up to 18 hours to hold their prime spot…in diapers! 👶 But there’s more than just the wait. 🌟 Over a ton of confetti showers down at midnight, tossed by 100 amazing volunteers from the rooftops. 🎊 Many of these colorful pieces carry wishes from around the globe, written on the “Wishing Wall.” 🌎 Finally, 300 sanitation workers swoop in to tackle the massive cleanup, collecting around 50 tons of trash (yep, including those diapers). 🚮

I will never understand this. A friend of mine who lives in NY gave it a go right before the Pandemic and told me, You have to be pretty much there 6 hours early to get a decent spot. Your body is always constantly touching other strangers, getting back home is a pain, and of course, the whole toilet situation, as mentioned here. I could never do this.

Wearing a wet diaper in that freezing cold, for hours, is my idea of hell.

Introvert me who always watch new year fireworks from my own terrace can't relate to this. How can you survive in the crowd for that long time??
I woul ld probably need 3 days to recharge myself after draining myself like that.😅 and no toilet? No thanks.😂

Well, this little tidbit can't be unlearned. I really appreciate it, though. I'll never see the ball-drop the same again!

As a New Yorker, I’ll pass on this. Too overcrowded. Literally can’t move on the streets. The tourists can have it. Lol

There are restaurants like Applebees and Olive Garden that make a party, serve food all evening and then take people to an assigned spot where they can see the ball drop, all for the price of $800/person.
