The Dash 2 locomotive series, unveiled by EMD in 1972, featured significant changes, such as a solid-state, modular electrical control system and improved engine components designed to increase traction and reduce exhaust emissions. A reliable work-horse, the GP38-2 remains one of the most successful locomotives ever built. Many are still in service today!

This model from Atlas has ESU Loksound DCC and sound installed at the factory and it runs exceptionally well. It may be one of the best running locomotives among my Atlas trains! While the level of detail may not set the world on fire, this is a great candidate for any model railroader who loves to super detail models!

Another great spotlight! That paint scheme does look sharp.

I grew up at the massive Dow plant outside of seadrift Texas, and they have several of these, although I had no room to fit on my double deck layout, there main car storage yard I’ll have an additional separate third deck that will move cars in an out with a double set of these and a couple mp15dc’s with sound in the GATX scheme

I recently got the New Hampshire Northcoast version. I think they did a great job with the paint. Very on-par.

I have one of those. It’s a Southern Railway high hood example, but mine is a silver master series early version with dcc.

There is a passenger variant: the gp38p-2. Equipped with steam generators, these locomotives were used on the jersey central railroad, and nj transit, and currently still operate as conrail rebuilt gp38ph-2s.

A $160.00 for a ‘Trainman’ which lacks detail and is on the so called CHEAPER side of their products. It’s coming people, KISS this hobby goodbye ! 👽
