The puppies perk is the ultimate way, to keep Dogmeat lol.

The multiple companions glitch was always my favorite discovery, (online anyway )another one I remember is with Star Paladin Cross, is after you talk with her, I certain speech option comes up, where you can be have her tag along, having Charon, Dogmeat, plus her.

But it is when you first meet her, so it's better to do it after completing the quest to find the G.E.C.K. inside vault 87 afterwards.
