VR RACING MOTION SIMULATION - WORTH THE PRICE ? [VRRC]

We check out one of the classic car track combo's in Assetto Corsa for a test spin in a Virtual Reality Racing Club motion rig that uses the Acuforce Stage 1 Motion seat mover.

Having used motion rigs more and more recently I have to say the desire to own one myself is growing the question however remains... Are they worth the price ?

obviously its gonna shake ...its VR in a motion rig with the sensor mounted statically....what were people expecting? I imagine it would be better on a full motion platform with the sensor moving with the rig...

VR headsets without tracking cameras will be a problem with motIon platforms. The headset will interpret movements by the platform as head movements. At least first gen headsets like Oculus are immune provided the camera is mounted on the rig itself. WMR and second gen headsets will require software correction to overcome this issue. I noticed in this video there is very little platform movement in any axis. Would expect a lot more to simulate Gs in a formula car.

Gamer Muschle if you want a motion rig the most "hot" thing right now is the sfx100, a diy project really really easy to set up, costing less than 2000£. There is a huge thread at racedepartment if you wanna check it out.

Discovered the DOF Reality M2 seat mover that is 3 times less than the Next Level Racing Motion V3. Ordered it for my GT Ultimate immediately.

Have a look at the Prosimu rigs. The T1000 3 dof is not too badly priced when it comes to motion rigs. Not cheap by any means but perhaps less expensive...

Motion and VR gets my vote. But I can understand people’s reservations. Price and real estate to fit the rig are big hurdles. But when they are dialled in it’s the closest to the real thing you are ever going to get 😄

Well ... the game screen was nauseating, but watching GM shake, rattle and roll in motion rig was quite entertaining.

I've tried several motion rigs. All of them were over done, unrealistic, where every little curb feels like a crash. The movement was more annoying than immersive.
