One of the craziest bugs I've ever seen were on fire calls, for wildland firefighting. Sometimes you'd see these firebugs crawling all over glowing red and orange stumps. We be standing on the fire line, looking into the unburned area (checking for spot fires) behind you is the burned area. These things would fly around, bite you, crawl over the stumps and be eating each other.
