The American Gilded Age was a period of immense economic change, of great conflict between the old ways and brand new systems, and of huge fortunes made and lost. Season two of THE GILDED AGE begins on Easter morning 1883, with the news that Bertha Russell's bid for a box at the Academy of Music has been rejected. Through the eight episodes of the season, we watch as Bertha challenges Mrs. Astor and the old system and works to not only gain a foothold in Society, but to potentially take a leading role in it. George Russell takes on his own battle with a growing union at his steel plant in Pittsburgh. In the Brook House, Marian continues her journey to find her way in the world secretly teaching at a girls school while much to everyone’s surprise Ada begins a new courtship. Of course, Agnes approves of none of it. In Brooklyn, the Scott family begins to heal from a shocking discovery, and Peggy taps into her activist spirit through her work with T. Thomas Fortune at the NY Globe. From creator Julian Fellowes (“Downton Abbey”), the new season of The Gilded Age will be available to on October 29, only on Max.

So excited for this! Loved season 1 and was so happy that it got picked up for season 2 and that so many of the cast are back. Thankfully filming finished before the writers and actors strikes otherwise who knows when we would have gotten it back.

Not Gonna Lie, Season 1 moved way too fast before we establish any characters to them, especially the van Rhijn who’s there to support Marian instead of being their own character. I hope now that the premise is settled, we’ll see more of Agnes in society.

This show is simply sumptuous! Normally I am playing on my phone while watching TV, but not with this show! Everything your eye lands upon is a marvel, from furniture to architecture to the fabulous gowns! The storylines are all interesting and it’s truly not a show for the mindless viewer. There’s just so much to absorb in each episode and tonight’s season debut was riveting!! I’m so stoked for this season!!

So fun to see the Philadelphia Academy of Music used as their opera house. An incredible building and I just so happen to be going there two days after this next season premier. Might have to wear my victorian attire when I go next!
