The reason why I haven't pull the trigger just yet is because the current phone I use is still holding very well, and it feels wrong to replace it just yet. The Fairphone's biggest problems are in the software department. There was a very recent study that FP is very bad at using security functions from the kernel. FP was the worst contender. Also there are still software bugs in the FP5 - just read the FP forums. I really can not recommend FP any more. I did so for many hears, having owned a FP2 and still owning a FP3, but I will move on. One can (and I have) overlook certain problems, but in the end a phone has to work and securely so. I need G5 and I want a much better camera, but what I am reading on the forums does not give my hope that an FP5 with it's high price is what I am looking for. I really like the concept of repairability and modularity at the same time I never had my phone broken, ever. And software issues are such a pain that I really don't want to have to deal with those (my FP2 had enough of them, back in the days).

Is the screen really flickering that much or it's from the video? It seems very noticeable on the Home Screen wallpaper, which could be an issue especially for users sensitive to PWM (Pulse-width modulation) flicker.


That being said, I really like the Fairphone and what the team is doing. Thank you so much for making these videos

I looked i to this phone and now I'm thinking that my next phone will be a Fairphone. But all I can do now is wait for them to have 120hz displays.

I'm a professional photographer... Very interested in having a hands on. Used to use a Pixel 7 Pro alongside my camera for photos but it died with more than 5 months left of warranty yet Google still won't honour it! Most of my gear is salvaged tech i repaired myself so having something with a swappable battery would be magic.

Got mine since the pre-launch sale and I wonder, is the frame replaceable? I replace phones on 5-year cycles and none of the previous phones were as scratched as this one in less than a year. Sadly official protection case does not offer much protection for falls as there is no lip overhanging on the front so it easily slips off of the phone and the phone then gets damaged on impact. I finally found one on eBay that does a bit better job of it.

At the very least offer a modular 3.5mm jack - we can see how much wasted space in the bottom
