I loved visiting Lahaina Town, this is so sad. My heart goes out to the residents, and I pray they find safety.

These scenes are reminiscent of Santa Ana wind-driven fire events here in Southern California. It doesn't help that the native vegetation has mostly been converted to non-native grasses, weeds, Eucalyptus, etc. Hoping the best for everyone there🤞❤️.

Haven’t had this big of a fire near populated areas since the Chinatown fires over a century ago. This is nuts. Stay paʻa Maui Nui!

The question is, how did the fire start? I might understand that one fire could start spontaneously but all of these fires at once?

Wildfires have been problematic in Maui for many years. Often, a fire that starts down near the coast gets blown up the mountainside by ocean breezes, blocking traffic flow along the one coastal highway for a day or two. The coastal highway is the only way to get from one end of the island to the other.

It's amazing how people still confuse hurricane(Atlantic) with typhoons (Pacific)

I have been watching the extremely dry hot winds traveling over the Hawaiian islands with concern over the potential for fire.

What also troubles me is the commercial befor the devastating news. Selling insurance etc. No matter what.

Each year this happens in Hawaii except there's stronger winds and dryer conditions. Over 98% of wildfires are human caused.

Just $5 a day to Ukraine and you too can help prevent wildfires

Just came hear to read the idiotic Maga comments . And wasn't disappointed. Keep up the good work, showing us all you can't be trusted around large machinery😊

So tell us what sparked the fires. We all know wind fuels an already burning fire. It has to start somewhere.

Hawaii, according to Donald tRUMP all you have to do is rake the forests leaves in order to control forest fires.
