David Leake, the president of the C-U Astronomical Society and retired director
of the Staerkel Planetarium at Parkland College wants you to donate to the Middle Fork River Forest Preserve International Dark Sky Park and Campground. The upgrades that will be added include a dark sky trail and other amenities such as stargazing nodes, expanded campsites, an observatory, and more. It is so important to give everyone access to the amazing night sky so they can learn about the importance of preserving it and bask in the starry awe that is natural darkness, free from light pollution. By adding a dark sky trail and amenities, access to this unique part of nature will be expanded.
