I liked that, despite this not being your thing, you recognised what talent went into this performance. Kudos to you for that ❤

She is the first person who has reacted to this that I've seen actually comment about the drummer, which is funny because this live performance was specifically to showcase their new drummer and how talented he is! Lol

Tip for audio: It sounds like you're playing the audio though your laptop's speakers, then letting it feed back in through your microphone. You're better off using earbuds to listen to the song, and use the audio from the track itself in your video (like you did when you were analysing it).

Just makes for a much better listen :D

you showed much respect to the song without interrupting with comments until the end. I appreciate that very much.

Depending on the style of metal, Meter changes are very common. I end up playing in 6/8, 7/8, and 6/4 a lot. though I count it as 12/8 when I'm playing in it. Then there's bands like tool, which the meter changes are incredibly numerous. The other commonality in metal is how quickly we switch between Natural minor and Phrygian. The style I play very frequently uses natural minor when ascending and Phrygian or phrygian Dominant when descending. The flat second stepping down to the tonic is very much the sound of metal. Things to keep in mind.

There are quite a few other women known for this style of vocal:
-Lauren Hart from Once Human (and frequent guest vocalist in Kamelot)
-Alyssa White-Gluz from Arch Enemy
-Elena Cataraga from Infected Rain
-Courtney LaPlante from Spiritbox
Just to name a few.

That was a much more thorough analysis than even other voice coaches normally give! Particularly jumping back and forth between her explanation and clips from the song that demonstrate her point. It was very effective and extremely well edited for both humor and effect. Great job! I'm seeing Jinjer in concert in October, in a surprisingly small venue.

It's a pleasure to hear someone say "It's not my thing" and then still be objective enough to comment on the abilities of the musician/singer/band.

Easily one of the most comprehensive analyses on this song so far. Your depth and honesty was refreshing...Great job!

Tatiana has said she actually has no formal vocal training. She doesn't even warm up before shows. She does it naturally which is even more insane. But you are 100% right, trying that for a beginner is not good.
From what I've watched and read, she does what's called a Fry Scream. She's not using her vocal folds which I believe is called a False Fold Scream. Regardless, she has natural talent most can only dream of.

I love that you tell it just like you feel it. "Not exactly my style. But talented musicians.". Perfectly put...because I can tell that genuinely how you feel. Nothing better than honesty, blended with love.
You're amazing.

Wow! What a nice reaction video!! You let the video flow without interuption. You then presented a detailed desc of timings and some highlight cuts. You took some time for the montage. This video feels refreshing. Thank you, you got a new follower :)

Her "LADY" voice is so melodic... Love this group... She is very special as a singer... Not easy to navigate between those vibes...

What I like about you is you listen to the entire song and *then* react.

And yes, Devin Townsend performing Kingdom live for EMGtv.

I really like watching reactions to Jinjir. Especially, this song. I like your commentary on the vocal techniques and that you didn't leave out the other players incredible talents. I also really liked the interactive clip cuts during your assessment. Very cool.
