As a kid who grew up with Jon pertwee, Tom Baker and Peter Davison I feel so betrayed by "the timeless cultural appropriation" that I want it gone. All of it. Forever. It is banned from my house. My girls grew up with Tennant - that they loved - and now even they can't stand what it's become. They now have kids of their own and refuse to show it to them. Any of it. Old or current.

Its very easy for the BBC to turn the show around. But they chose to pursue a path which isn't what the fans of the show want. Its a reflection of how bad the BBC are in 2024 and how they no longer want to entertain their dwindling audiences. The rumour I heard was that RTD was being demoted to exec-producer with a new show runner to come in. If Disney don't want to fund it then it will be cancelled and the BBC have only themselves to blame.

The BBC need to announce a hiatus before Disney embarrass them with cancellation. The Beeb can say how proud they are of it and those in front and behind the camera. They might even announce (the lie) that the show has achieved everything they wished for. Either way it needs resting until such time as RTD and his enablers at Bad Wolf are no longer available to ruin the franchise again. The show can return in a few years, reinvigorated and under the leadership of someone who cares more about the show than they do about virtue signalling.
