Diesel torque with instant throttle response? Yes please!

@davie1971 If you check out marine diesel usa they run this setup on boats. I am not a very technical person and the supercharger was a straight forward install. No electronics or anything. It was installed without any directions from the manufacturer.

@KapteinOpel The truck does not have a boost regulator. The pulley at the end of the snout is rated for 11psi.

@TrevF250
Rebuilding it this summer to go 18:1. Using a marine injector pump and marine injectors. The motor runs real smooth and the truck gets through traffic real easy.
I really like the setup.

@KapteinOpel The supercharger is a Kenne Bell. It came with a special manifold that has the intercooler in it. It is the 2.6 model.

@petthekittyz LOL, If your talking about an air intake, it goes through the stock air cleaner. The big thing with the pulley is the blower. The truck had to be lifted 2.5 inches to fit it under the hood. It's huge.

@royalbrainwave it's right on top. pretty sure it's that black box on top of the motor, cause the belt is hooked up to it.

Poland- Great Country! Great People! This truck used to live at 7k feet up and I would take it over mountain passes that were about 13k feet in elevation. The supercharger really helped it out. Pulling things or crawling at low rpms is simple because the the motor is always boosted.

I'm glad you figured it out on your own without anybody's help. give yourself a pat on the back.

@JtsGreene The early ones were non turbo. Lacking in power at high altitude. I drive this truck in the mountains as high as 12, 000 feet up.

@jl2885 If you look at Whipple's pages you'll see they have a blower with boost regulator for these engines, I dont know if this one has that of course. But it will be an advantage, as the engine wont have to work to produce boost when its not needed, thus saving fuel.

Nice. Am I correct in assuming it was N/A beforehand?

@elliotmotoX

supercharger generally keeps a liner deliverly of power unlike a turbo but S/C is less efficient

Our fire department has an '86 military surplus Humvee diesel. I am new so I haven't gotten to do much with it yet.

How does the boost regulator work? I'm thinking of putting a blower on my 6, 2.

Is it a GM block or a AM general Optimizer 6500?
Or by some luck a p400 block

@elliotmotoX Supercharger was easy to install. No electronics and puts out more power than the turbo motor.

@hsvkidusa But the power it creates is then boosted by the supercharger itself?
Which is cheaper for installation?
I don't want to install a turbo because of the stuff I'd have to do to the engine. Eg injectors, placement etc.
Would twin turbo be better? I don't know a whole lot about it.
