I just got an ankle tattoo while in Florida. I nearly tapped out cause i felt like i was about to kick my artist. It felt like the bugs that kept biting me whenever i went to the beach 😂

There is no shame in tapping out. I almost passed out. Don't do it. My artist got pissed (she is also a family friend and like my older sister practically) just pay attention to your body and if you hit your limit do not got past it

Can confirm, my first tattoo was a full back with watercolour and tiny details. Tapped out after 5 hours and split the session into 4 😂

I feel truly proud of myself when I manage to get through a 6-7 hour session, give my artist a good payday, and come home with some exceptional body art.

I’m yet to tap out. But who knows what area of the body will just be too much to handle one day.

i'm doing a blackout sleeve on my arm. so far i've had wrist to elbow done. i was struggling hard on the swellbow lol. soon as the swelling started i was sitting there praying like "dear god let him be hitting the last spot..." -time goes by, "dear god let THIS be the last spot" 🤣. Shit took like a full hour to finish that area lol

As a tattoo artist I’m wondering how other tattoo artists feel about this question. How old should you be when you start getting tattoos? For me personally it’s when the person has truly thought it through and 16 or older with parent permission until they are 18.

I got a thigh piece done that took a little over 9 hours to do. I probably could've split it into 2 sessions but I really just wanted to get it done. I think my max for a session would be 10 hours.

Yeah have to confirm, I got a sleeve which for the most part was super chill but out of nowhere the pain kicked in when he got to the elbow. But he immediately stopped, gave me water and we went on, he was super relaxed about it 🤷🏻‍♂️

Yeah i hope i dont have to tap out when i get my first tattoo but i probably will because im not very good with pain. But the tattoo i want is really important to me so I'll have to work through the pain

Under side of bicep (Near armpit) - tapped out and had to get it re-done. Was not prepared for that. Other arm on my wrist and shoulder got done at the same time by 2 diff artists and i was meh about it. Crazy how flipping over your arm can cause that much more pain.

Does numbing cream put on the spot beforehand help with the pain?

My first tattoo was my right hand and everyone called me nuts for doing it.

“Oh you’re gonna tap out”!
“That’s the most painful spot to get linework and shading done”.

Once you break your leg, slowly, without getting the pleasures of shock, you find pain from a tattoo gun very trivial

After 5h working on my rips/sternum, Ive blacked out. My tattoo artist poured very cold water over me and I woke up. After throwing up I told him we could continue. He was in shock but didnt know that I pass out and throw up multiple times during my period and I was used to continue with my day after that 😂 (he scheduled me for two months later to finish the tattoo)

So, I have autism, and I want a tattoo, but I can’t handle repetitive movements on my skin because of sensory issues, and well as bc of that my pain tolerance is a lot lower than normal people, would it annoy the artist if I were to tap out every little bit because of that?

I've never tapped out... I have a few in really painful spots.. they're all pretty big and detailed..

I sat the whole 6 hours for my first tattoo honestly didn't even hurt until he went over the entire thing with the white high lights 😭
