Sidechaining in Reason: That Pulsing Dance Music Sound

This is a demonstration of how to set up sidechain compression in Reason for that pulsing dance music sound. And how to build this sound so that even when your song's main kick drum isn't running the sidechain compression sound is still working. I'll post the completed combinator patch on my blog:

Thanks a lot Dr. Erick :) I've been using reason 5 n always wanted to know how to create that pulsing effect but the closest I got was routing a synth into the Kong Drum Designer and using the compressors in that to achieve the sound but I didn't know how to get that without the drums being on.

Can I ask what this pulsating effect is called? It triggers my migraine and I've been having trouble finding dance music that doesn't utilize it 😅

this sounds like a lot more work than there needs tobe. Logic Pro is literaly two buttons, then everything is compressed and bouncy.

btw i have a question, maybe u know. why a 6:2 instead of a 14:2, is there a major difference, cuz i always use the 14:2 since u can see it much better.

To stop the Redrum from receiving notes you can also go to the combinators programmer, click Redrum in the device list and deselect the "Receive Notes" box. Wah la
