Alex Murdaugh’s Lawyers Rip Court Clerk for Alleged Jury Tampering, Announce Motion for New Trial

Alex Murdaugh’s attorneys, Dick Harpootlian and Jim Griffin, spoke to the media on Tuesday about their recently filed motion for a new trial. Murdaugh’s defense team claims the Colleton County clerk of court Rebecca Hill tampered with the jury during his double murder trial, resulting in an unfair trial. "There is no choice — but the court’s — to grant a new trial," attorney Jim Griffin said. The disgraced lawyer was convicted of killing his wife, Maggie, and son, Paul, by a South Carolina jury in March.

I have worked for the courts and I have clerked jury trial but my clerk of courts never spoke to the jury. If she has spoken to the jury, that is really sad and it would’ve been her reason to talk to them at all. That would be a sorry day in the courts.

Why am I not surprised? 🙄 The guy is going to exhaust EVERY single chance he comes across. I see these lawyers eventually turning him down, and he moves on to someone else. This will not be the last time we hear from him.
