Excellent idea, but with a very simple problem, for the sand and gravel to be safe to filter water, they have to be cleaned in boiling water for several hours, to eliminate fungi, bacteria, mold, waste, etc., and after boiling in water for several hours they must be cleaned with chlorine, and then again with water to prevent the growth of algae, lichens and the proliferation of viruses and bacteria.

Superb video!, But I asked myself a question, with all this plastic, is there not a risk of polluting the water with micro plastic particles?

Made the same here in Dominican republic but before connecting with the old tube system of the house I made a desinfection with hydrogen peroxide of the old tubes.. Good work and thanks for the video. You can filter the water 100 times but using the old tubes again of the house connection you have the same bad water . It is no critic . Only a hint for the future constructors of this great idea

Nice ideas in reusing plasic although all that plastic will leech harmful chemicals over time. I think I'd like to try and make such things out of recyclable materials such as glass and copper (naturally antibacterial). More expensive, yeah but fully recyclable.
