Went through Aussie airport security twice (domestic, haven't tried going through international outbound screening points) with the TA30C without issues and I hope it stays that way. Objectively speaking, it is a very gently crenelated bezel (imagine the bezel as a standalone CNC part before they drill holes or anything for the 3 inlays), much more so than lights like Nitecore MH27 which I've travelled with internationally multiple times without any issues for years. I perceive the round inlays as not being designed for self defence but for life preservation (compared to something like the M2R Pro or M1X for instance, can't break glass, I wouldn't be able to make much of an argument against someone claiming it's solely meant for self defence). That said, I will still always remove the FR-1 ring beforehand as it's entirely up to the officers as individuals - one might let it through, another taking over his shift a minute after might not.

Do you have any flat top unprotected 18650 to test in the TA30C? I'm glad it accepts protected button tops with and without a built-in charging port cuz some of my lights like Skilhunt H04 RC can take the former but not the latter at all.

Nice review like always. I might need to pick up the Fenix next 😅. What about smaller throwers? Like 18350, 16650 or 14500? What are your favorites in that size?

I like the pd35r, but there are 2 deal breakers for me. It's as long as 21700 flashlights, and needs a moonlight mode with 1 lumen for better run time. Less than 1 lumen works also. The quality and beam profile are the best.

Due to that the warrior mini 3 is my choice for an EDC. It's not as big or heavy, and has a good amount of setting and run time for many types of conditions and situations. If there's a major natural disaster and we're out of power for some time, that 100 day run time will give me security. It also lasts 165 hours at 15 lumens, whereas the Fenix can only do 100 for 10 lumens, less hours and brightness. I don't like that flap either that covers the charging port. My pd40r v2 outperforms this due to it using a 21700 battery. Superb combination beam with 405m throw and brighter spill. Good run time in the upper settings. It's a bit heavy though for an EDC.

Top three budget?? I love the Convoy S8 ! The Pioocan L2 is amazing as well.

Hi Darren,
Do you have any plans to review the Convoy S6 cslnm1 and sft40? The S6 is quite a thrower for it's size because it has a 20mm deep reflector vs 12mm for the S2+. So far it looks like no one else has done a review for either emitter in this host.
