Fraudstermind: Jody Smart

Every pension or investment scam starts with a crooked “adviser” (often unlicensed) who puts his own fat commissions before his clients’ interests. CWM - Continental Wealth Management - was a perfect example. Illegally-sold insurance bonds from OMI, SEB and Generali; toxic, high-risk structured notes from Royal Bank of Canada, Commerzbank and Leonteq. Hundreds of victims ruined. Millions of pounds’ worth of life savings and pensions destroyed. Darren Kirby and his girlfriend - former “glamour” model Jody Smart - walked away when the company collapsed without a backward glance. Kirby and Smart ran CWM from 2008 to 2017 when the company finally collapsed.
