Typically people left side is "weaker" so thats why its first in the form. Just one way to look at it. Another way to look at it is most people are right hand so when someone attacks you you will would "typically" use left hand in Pak sow, taun sow or whatever you use to defend....forgive my spelling of the movements.

should this form be performed for forty minutes or is three minutes enough?

@not007ful Wing Chun mirrors the opponent (i.e. no crossovers). Since your opponents will be predominantly right-handed, Wing Chun emphasizes starting with the left hand.

@not007ful Something with the Chi flow, you could also ask why we read left to right.

@karikaalacholan If your doing it right 3 minutes is fine, If your doing it wrong forty minutes is pointless. The movements have very little to do whether the form is done correctly.
