Using Sheets and Toolpathing Vectors – The Tea Shelf Project – Part 2
More down here ↓↓↓ Click SHOW MORE!

In this video, I’ll get back into the Tea Shelf project and demonstrate Using Sheets in Vectric Cut2D Desktop, Cut2D Pro, VCarve Desktop, VCarve Pro, and Aspire.

First I’ll show you how I create a new sheet, then edit the material size for that sheet. Then I’ll walk you through the process of orienting and moving the vectors from the original sheet to the new sheet.

Then we’ll walk through the steps involved in calculating the toolpaths needed for each sheet. I’ll demonstrate how to navigate from one sheet to another in order to toolpath the entire project in one CRV or CRV3D file.
Finally, I’ll show you how to save g-code, using a very simple organization method to ensure I have the right g-code saved for the right part.

As usual, if you have any comments or questions about anything I covered in this video, please join me for the Live Q&A, or put ‘em in the comment section below.

On Sunday, March 13th, I’ll be hosting a LIVE Q&A session, where you can ask your questions pertaining to anything I’ve covered in this video. That Q&A starts at 3 pm Eastern time, Noon Pacific time. Hope to see you there!

Never used sheets. What a great way to keep a larger project organized. Thank you!

You mentioned sheets a few times this past month, so I finally checked out the sheet thingy. This design feature is totally awesome! Now I know how to keep all of my project tool paths in one VCarve Pro document. I was making separate VCarve document per board size...pounding my head on the workbench....Thank you for the video Mark!

Very thankful. I discovered several things that I did not know. Very tidy to place first in the name of the path with which milling is going to be done. In my case it would not be necessary because I have automatic tool changes. Greetings from Argentina from another CNC enthusiast.

Good job Mark. I must get creative with file names since my HHC only shows 6 characters. Using Richauto

Thank you for all of your videos. I have learned so much from watching them. Very much appreciated. Is there a way to have one vCarve file that has different sheets that have different thicknesses? For example sheet 1 has things that are 1/5" and sheet 2 that has a thickness of 2"? Thank you.

Have you ever tried using stop daddos on ur work?

Great video, as always, Mark! Answered my questions from last week regarding different material thicknesses, perfectly! I have another question though, regarding “inside” dados, where there are no runouts. The corner will be a radius from the router bit. Just chisel them out? Or is there a CNC secret for them?

Mark: When you and the master designer finalize this, would you then add a pocket allowance to the dado/rabbet pocket so that the shelves will fit?

I noticed your toolpaths originated in the material center, rather than the lower left corner. Was this intentional, as I remember you normally zero from the corner? Great tutorial, as usual. Thanks.
