Still the little band that could. 😊 Like it or don't, Bayside always had a way of getting meaning out. I always felt like Anthony could tell any story he wanted to. Along with everyone else, with their classic sound, they can do whatever they want.

these comments bashing the video...not sure how many of you actually have listened to the song all the way through. PAY ATTENTION cus I'm only saying this once! MARY IS DEAD. That's why they look the way they do. the lyrics talk about him meeting Mary, and he says "she said I'm gonna make it out night" then eventually by verse 3 he says "when I lit her candle never thought to cry" which is an obvious implication she's dead. Then proceeds to change it to "you WERE gonna make it out one night" ("were" as in past tense as if she's not around anymore) & suddenly "cus Mary you never were the staying kind" takes a whole new meaning. They're supposed to look unhappy this whole video.

So I randomly decided to listen to Bayside today on Spotify for the first time In many years. I lost interest in them after their first couple albums. So I listened to Vacancy, and I was pleasantly surprised. In my opinion, this song is great. The video is actually quite artsy to me. There are so many things going on both happy and sad and colorful and vibrant, yet the song still leaves you feeling kind of "meh" afterwards. Super catchy tune. I dig it. This and "I've Been Dead All Day" are my favorites off the album so far.
