I didn't want to be this guy, but "Force Majeure" is just such a great movie and besides JLD and Will Ferrell, there seems to be no reason for this remake to exist.

Wow! I had never seen Force Majeure (or even heard of it), but all the comments here sent me looking for it. EXCELLENT MOVIE!!! Thanks, you guys. Pretty sure I'll never see Downhill now. Not only was the movie intense and thoughtful and beautiful, but... Kristofer Hivju! Damn.

Uh, I hate to say it. But for those who’ve seen the movie this is a remake of, Force Majeure, you know the tone of this trailer is completely wrong. The original movie was an emotionally intense film that asked some serious questions about people and how they handle themselves in horrific situations. This movie looks like it’s taking that premise and turns it into a goofy comedy or something, with only some inklings of what the original movie was about. I hope this isn’t what the actual movie is like though.

Despite all of the bad reviews, and seeing the original film. I found this movie very enjoyable. You just need to realize what you’re walking into. A drama, not a comedy. However I liked it
