There are several lines in the original trilogy that were actually explained in the prequels. This is one of them. Two more are "Aren't You a bit Short for a Stormtrooper?" That makes sense if they are all clones. Otherwise, it seems a really odd thing for Leia to say in her position. And another is, "These blast points: too accurate for sandpeople. Only Imperial Stormtroopers are so precise" Yes, they couldn't hit the broad side of a barn in the original trilogy (except during the first 5 minutes of A New Hope, but it makes sense if they are aging clones. When Obi-Wan knew them, they actually were precise troops)
