One of the great songs I was introduced to during my time traveling with the Gaithers was Until Then. I didn’t grow up listening to Southern Gospel music so many of the songs we recorded while I was there I was hearing for the first time. As expected, Until Then floored me. I was taken by the lyric and the melody, but also by the story of the writer. Stuart Hamblen was America’s first singing cowboy. He was a hugely popular radio personality. As a songwriter, his works were recorded by Rosemary Clooney, Dean Martin, Johnny Cash, and Elvis and many more. And as an actor, he starred along side the likes of John Wayne, Gene Autry and Roy Rogers. He had an amazing journey that included coming to know Jesus through a Billy Graham crusade.

I fell in love with Until Then I think because it was not only about longing for Heaven, but having joy in the journey. I took it from its cowboy roots and set it in a Puccini-like treatment with a soaring orchestra to better fit the way I would communicate such a deep, meaningful expression of faith. What an honor to encourage listeners with this timeless message of hope and joy! Be blessed!

I work at a jail and recently downloaded this album. When I walk at lunchtime, and see the walls and fences and know the depravity and brokenness inside listen to “Until Then” on my iPhone and it reminds me that all will be better someday. David, thank you for this beautiful reminder.

The thing about David's voice is it is of a quality worthy to be heard by the Lord, because it is one of His finest creations. Though He delights in all our voices when our hearts are sincere, I imagine He finds great delight when David sings a song of praise. I'm grateful He lets us hear, too. What a great blessing just hearing you sing. I love that song. I have watched my in laws pass and then my parents. All on this earth did nothing for them.
