Super helpful. I've been looking into bouncing/exporting and delivering stems for a few days now. I just didn't get it until I saw your video. Thank you!

Thanks for this! I really appreciate the in-depth video and how organized you are! I just switched to Ableton from FL after like 5+ years in that DAW and I'm trying to simultaneously improve my organization and professionalism now that I'm in the new DAW... Sidenote: Ableton is amazing and I look forward to checking out some of your other tutorials.

Very insightful! I'v got a quick question: what if the mixer doesn't have the same plug-ins I used to make my midi tracks or the same one-shots I used to create the drums? Will my midi keys and drums play in their daw?

would this work with sending to someone who is not on ableton?

Thanks for the tutorial, really helpful and detailed!! I was wondering how much compression and EQing you usually apply before sending to the mixer, do you send detailed notes along with the stems? If yes, would love to have your lights on that too!
Anyway, great ressource here, I'll definitely recommend it...

Thanks for the info. Is this the best way to transfer a project from Ableton to Logic so someone else can work on it?

How do you send multitrack to a console for virtual sound check?

When I did it it sent as a left and right mix. I need to get the separate instruments for virtual sound check.

I got told to freeze tracks with plugins that are not on Ableton. I am also struggling to find the stems, using windows 11

Hi! I have a question, if I have groups on my project and I want to export the stems but only for the individual instruments and not the master and all that stuff what I need to do? I mean the answer might be just deleted the groups and then export but is there any other easy way to do it?

Thx Lucas! If I do this way, will the stems export with the master/main channel effects/plugins affecting these stems?

When bouncing the individual stems/ groups are they running through the master? Been having an issue, exporting stems, and put them in a new project and noticing everything is kind of clashing into each other. I have a limiter on the original project that the stems was exported from some confused why the stems are pushing the master

Hello,
great tuto,
I have a problem creating stems, maybe you can help me ?

I give you a simple exemple :
if i create, let's say :
A Kick Stem
A snare stem
A bass stem

and I have side chain compressor in between those groupe (the snare control the kick, the kick control the bass...)

When i do a Export selected track, those sidechains do not work, ...
It's very problematic...

Can you help me on this ?
Thanks !

Also, people would appreciate it if the track names aren' t too long. Like instead of
"BandX - Drums - Overhead Left_134bpm", just label it
"OH_L", same as "KK", "snr_T", "snr_B" "tm_01" "tm_03", "RM"
For drums it's easy. But for certain tracks you kind of want to balance convenience with cryptic.
"JBUV" (Joey's backup vocals). I don't know who Joey is. Just label it "BUV" or "Vx_BU".
Hope this helps.

What's the point of all individual tracks? Stems more like about groups of instruments

You didn't include your sends and master chain fx?

I suppose someone like you is recording from real world instruments ... perhaps through fx pedals that are automatically being recorded.
