It's product testin' time again, buddies! Today we test the Ronco Rotisserie Oven!  -Fafa the Groundhog

I remember back in the day there were these things called 'Blow Pens' where you'd blow into one end and ink would shoot out the other end.

I want to see Mario and Fafa try to use those.

An hour of pretty fun spinning and even cooking...
Then two hours of falling off and helplessly being beaten to double death with the rotisserie bars.

Hmmm... I have had one of these for several years and the FIRST THING it said on the directions was, "Set it and DO NOT forget it!"
Chicken has to be tied up and carefully skewered so it won't fall off.
The baskets work nicely for pork loin and cut up chicken.

We own one of these. The hardest part is getting the metal rod things to set inside the roaster without them falling out of place, especially if the chicken weighs alot. Or at least its a problem with ours. Its like sometimes they didn't cut the rods right. It is good though once done. Always a perfectly roasted and flavored chicken. 

Which is really its appeal. Your chickens flavor seems more even as does the moistness of it. Obviously because it keeps it spinning. The downside is it takes up alot of room if you have a small house.

I have a rotisserie oven, Not a Ronco, but similar. I love the way it cooks a chuck roast, sooo much better than in an oven!

The whole thought behind it I think is that the chicken is rotating at a constant speed, so the grease and moisture is kept in the bird so you don't have to inject the chicken and open the oven every couple of hours to baste it. Also it cooks more evenly across the whole surface as the spin gets the chicken cooked all the way around. The purpose gentlemen... is spit roasted chicken... there are two ways to cook a chicken and have a "baked chicken" texture and taste... bake it in a covered dish that retains heat on ALL sides of the chicken or flip it every couplenof hours... or keep the bird in constant rotation, aka spit roasting.

I have one of these.  Cooking meat on a Rotisserie, at least in my opinion, is much better than just laying it in a roaster.  Leg of lamb on the grill... use a rotisserie, look at most supermarkets, their fresh chicken is Rotisserie.  The self-basting properties of rotisserie cooking just rocks.  I can't install a rotisserie in my oven.  That is the best reason.  I love these segments, though.  :-)
