Lapiplasty is better, it is reconstructive surgery and deals with the source of the problem. This method allows for the occurrence of a bunion, loose screw can happen too.

Mine is near my little toe and it’s so painful I don’t wear tight shoes or heels I haven’t worn them for years and I’ve got RA so I wonder if that may have anything to do with it ?

Hello, I have a prominent bunion on my right toe. This on is genetic from my dads side of family. I have gone in to a local podiatrist, he talks me out of surgery due to the fact I have low arches in my feet and it would just come back. He also says I would lose about 10-15 degrees in motion due to the screws. He prescribed me orthotics and am not very pleased by them. Deep down I want a surgery but don't want to risk horrible permanent damage to my toe if I do it. I am a runner also he mentioned its a bad idea for runners overall. Any advice?
