TYT MD-680 Unboxing and Review vs MD-390

A quick unboxing and look at the TYT MD-680 DMR handheld radio. With an impressive 10 watts of output power, is it worth the 79 dollar price tag considering it isn't compatible with amateur DMR repeaters in the USA. In this video I compare it to a MD-390 and see how they communicate with each other.

I realize this video hasn't gotten a lot of views or likes, but I want to tell you it was incredibly useful to me. I was planning to buy a 680 for encrypted communications with other DMR radios, and your video showed me that was not possible and saved me some time and money. Really appreciate it.

do you have the cable diagram for TYT MD-680 ? because seems the common Kenwood/Baofeng cable with USB TTL does not work, due probably the pinout of the plugs 2.5mm an 3.5mm have a different ordering.

Hello and thanks for your work!

Can you tell me, please, does Baofeng UV-6R works well with TYT MD-680?

please: any tips on a DMR radio, that can be set to license free state (466 mhz, ~0, 5W with a short antena, very standard DMR) and in a case of emergency can use larger antena and more watt-power? Also being somewhat or completly waterproof and having some standard connector for headsets and external mics? Not for connecting to a DMR network. And ofc for good money.

I bought two md-398s in vhf, and the swr was 19 with the rubber duck. I would throw it in the garbage and put a whip on it. The 398 comes with a 14" whip (swr 4) and I cut it down to about 9" and got the swr down to 1.55 on my assigned freq around 170mhz.
