Thomas - Aeropress is amazing! BUT - try making it by pulling the plunger almost all the way out then standing it upside down. Put your coffee in, then pour the hot water, stir, let sit for about a minute, put the filter and cap on (wet the filter a little so it sticks to the cap), THEN flip it over onto your mug and press. I've been doing it this way for years and think it makes a better cup and no messes.

Pro Tip from a retired thermal engineer: never take the milk carton from the front nearest the door. That is the warmest location in the refrigerator from the constant access by others which creates temperature instability of the milk, exponentially increases bacterial growth and renders sell by date ineffectual. Take the 2nd or 3rd one behind it. You're welcome!

The expansion joint that your having issues with is nothing to worry about. You can wrap some pop cans or tin cans around it and hold in place with wire. The only reason to do that is to reduce noise.

Tip.. start with the aero press inverted to stop the leakage.. dislodge all the coffee from the side before plunging🤗

That's just a break in the flexing unit of the exhaust system. Happens to many cars since that moves constantly as you drive. Other than the noise, and the possible exhaust smell/poisoning if you sit still and idle the engine, you are not going to hurt the van by driving it further. As a quick fix they can cut it out and replace it with a temporary piece of pipe to get you by until you get to a proper exhaust place.

Hey Thomas, to avoid a mess with your AeroPress try out the reverse brew method. Keep your filter off, put the plunger in, turn over, now the filter thread is on top, the plunger stands with the tube above. Fill in your grinded coffee and water, stir. Now close the tube by screwing in your filter. Place your cup upside down on top, turn all around so the cup is now at the bottom. Let the coffee brew as you like and then just do your normal press, as soon as you hear air coming off stop pushing, and you are done. Enjoy your coffee without having a mess.
