Chiffonade Basil

Pluck basil leaves from stems. Stack basil leaves smallest to largest. Roll basil leaves lengthwise into a cigar shape. Using a gentle slicing motion slice thin strips across the rolled leaves to create ribbons. Separate slices with your fingers.
