McQ (1974) #WarnerArchive #WarnerBros #McQ

Two slain officers lie in pools of blood on the street. There's no pattern to the killings and police are confused and scared. Only after gunshots splatter his partner across a back alley and Detective Lon McQ himself narrowly escapes death does the bloody rampage make sense. Now McQ knows whom to go after. John Wayne thunderously enforces the law in a high-velocity thriller that's like a big-city revenge Western on wheels. Directed by action master John Sturges (The Great Escape, The Magnificent Seven).

Directed By John Sturges
Starring John Wayne, Eddie Albert, Diana Muldaur

Seen it many times but that scene gave me pain to see such a great classic muscle car get crushed.

I remember clearly watching this scene on TV with my Dad when I was young. This scene freaked me out and is one of the scariest 70s car scenes along with Duel when the tractor trailer is pushing Dennis Weaver's car at the railroad crossing. That Firebird took four hits before both headlights went out.

Gotta love 1970s move soundtrack scores, great use of trumpets and other horns.

This is where Steven Seagal got his idea for Marked For Death? Mind you he put on as many lbs and slowed down as much as Seagal too lol!

oh that broke my heart indeed!!! I'd like to think that was a 'prop car' and they didn't crush the awesome 455 Trans Am....

I can think that if I want!!! LOL

God forbid if they ever did a remake of this film--the line would be "I'm up to my butt in volts!!!"

A viking funeral for a classic muscle car. Better to go out that way than sit around collecting dust in some old guy's collection room.

I believe this was shot in Post Alley in the Pioneer Square area of Seattle, perhaps between Cherry and Columbia streets.

I thought cross draw for uniformed cops had gone out of favor by 1974. Half the fun of old movied is the vintage cars, which were new or recent at the time. The Trans Am and the cop car (Polara maybe?- hard to tell). Twin Sonic light bar and the early electronic siren, which sounds a lot like a growler.
