Helpful Tip: Catch/Bring a pokemon with Pickup. Every so often a Pokemon has a Berry or Held Item. Pokemon with Pickup automatically take these after battle, allowing you to take their items and spread them throughout your team as needed, as opposed to the alternative which is losing them.

Something cool I just discovered is that if you have caught/hatched a mon 10+ times, then it's starter cost decreases by one

Lokix with First Impression and Sucker Punch alone punches holes through teams. They definitely should increase the starter level for it imo

Update: Fusions 2nd half can evolve now too!

Helpful tip: you can reorder moves in summary. But they should allow for shift on a keyboard or a+b on mobile like all the games before switch did

One thing i can recommend is status lowering moves and moves like leech seed, salt cure etc that do continous % dmg are amazing for the final boss and i havent failed against it anymore after using those tactics. Also catching boss mons is not only pretty safe since you get healed up after but they also tend to have more items than regular wild mons so its worth doing.

What I find most impressive about this hack is the complexity of the ai. The switches it makes are extremely human-like, making predicting its switches/making doubles all the more fun.

I actually did not know the effects of Pokerus in this game, so thanks for that, and the other tips. I also didn't know lures stacked with each other.

I hatched Iron Hands from an epic egg, now i just select him as my starter and sweep till like wave 150, at that point I 've either buffed something else to a high degree or hands just sweeps rest of the way. Long live Iron Hands

I'm glad your first video on PokeRogue did so well in the algorithm. It introduced me to this awesome take on a roguelite Pokemon game! I'm only on my first run, so all these tips are very helpful. Thank you!

Also seen in your first video, meowth technician fake out is OP early game (lvl 5-20ish). I started meowth, geodude (with egg move body press), and wattrel (for electric moves and speed) and it got me all the way through classic mode on my 6th attempt. Granted, I got lucky with Golem being a heavy sweeper mid game but it's amazing how meowth fake out can carry. Also, leech seed hits like a tank, it takes percentage hp. When I faced the final boss, leech seed did 25% and carried me through fake out stall.

Love the entertainment and I'll definitely be using these tips in my future runs! Good luck everyone

Heres another tip: if youre having way too much trouble winning, pick kyogre + nymble/plusle/minun. Kyogre has hurricane as egg move, starts with ancient power and origin pulse that destroys double battles, learns ice beam and aqua ring by level up and can primal revert if you get lucky and aquire the mega bracelet and the blue orb (but not necessary, it clears the game anyway as base kyogre). I actually stopped using it cause I won 4 runs in a row.

I just beat my first classic run last night with a rain team. Absolutely hooked right now

funny, this video was posted as I was finishing my first winning run. wish I knew how fusing worked before starting the run, but it worked out well enough. I fused a Feraligatr with a Gurdurr, hoping it could evolve with a link cable... but no, it couldn't. he was still one of my best pokemon by the end, water/fighting feraligatr with guts, bulk up and drain punch was insane

update: the second part of the fusion can evolve now

Helpful Tip, get the candy jars whenever they are available as a rewards. They increase the effect of rare candies. If you have 1, a rare candy increases your level by 2 instead of 1. If you have 2 jars, you get 3 levels and so on. This is great because rare candies do not respect the level cap. Say you are in the final stretch of the game and have lvl200 Pokémons. You can still use a rare candy on them and they will go to lvl 201 and with jars you could get even higher. I got to lvl 204 with 3 jars.

You can also press the m key to get into the menu. Also, pickup isn’t really totally random in this game. It takes a random item from your opponent after a battle that they didn’t use up. If you want something non consumable, it’s best to repeatedly use lower damage moves when they are at low health to force them to use up their consumable berries

I hatched an Arceus in my first 5 pull of eggs and ive been starting runs with it and Beedrill, beedrill actually pulled a ton of weight in my winning run despite never getting a mega one (baneful bunker was incredibly useful)

Late to this comment section, I want to add something for future viewers. @11:30 ish we go over items stacking, and Hoodlum uses lures as his example. This is actually for all items, not just boosts. You CAN have a single photosynthesis (or any, photosynthesis is just for this example to simulate how broken it can get) mon hold 5 shell bells, 5 leftovers, a focus sash, 10 berries, 4 life orbs and 5 eviolite or any other combination of items. They just keep stacking. If you get crazy good rng on your item picks, theoretically you can be setup to win the run by stage 30. A pokemon with Photosynthesis, rest/roost/recover, Sunny day popped, 4 leftovers, 4 shell bells and a focus sash is basically invincible. Also, since focus sash isnt guaranteed to stop your pokemon from getting KO'd, you can stack as many as you want on to improve the chance of one of the sashes getting triggered. Best part is, focus sash doesnt disappear after use so if you get enough you really can become invincible. Imagine a wonder guard shedinja with 4 focus sashes on it.

The early floors are definitely a wall. Rival 2/Wave 25 feels a bit overtuned, without help of decent Eggs (which you can get this early if you roll Gym on wave 20) you kinda need to get lucky with what you get, as by that point you're likely to have only one Pokemon that matches their team and if it's not good enough, it will die and then the rest of your team gets swept.
A bunch of my early runs died to that fight, then I got really funny earlygame and I turned my Technician Meowth into a murder machine (Multilens and Grip Claw; it had stolen so many held items that by the end game wouldn't show all of them unless I went into a summary lmao), with the team surviving all the way to wave 195 (where it actually got pretty close to winning). From that funny run got a bunch of Eggs Vouchers, which lead to another murder machine: Parabolic Charge Magnemite (Magnezone with healing STAB move is seriously hard to kill, especially when the rest of the time covers its weakness). After some finetuning, I managed to clear wave 195 (and the final boss) today.
Also they rebalanced some things recently, I am pretty sure X Items used to last only 5 waves, and the better Rare Candy used to just give more levels rather than be Rare Candy for entire team.
