There is only one challenge facing all these exploited regions: Greed.

I love how they tell them not to cut down their tree while the West mow down trees for windmills.

Finally, somone who is trying to be pro active, I was hoping this would happen when he was elected. This amazing area is the greatest asset the world has, it's time to protect and preserve this extrodinary area.

Here in Thailand, they are combating this by making it against the law to have a chainsaw with a bar over 12 inches. It seems to work pretty well but still there are cutting of some trees.

How about starting with not cutting anymore of it down?

Amazon should be protected. If only the climate activists would focus there!

Use drones. It’s the best way to cover such a large area and keep an eye on it. Put very strict punishments on people who burn or try to clear. Even if they are poor farmers. But, if you fight the poor you have offer an affordable alternative whether it’s GMOs that have increased yields or have farmers build up somehow rather than spread out.

The clear cutting, and deforestation is a disaster. I saw what they are doing to Amazonia in 2001. Save Amazonia.

They caused the "Issues". They took the money and sold their souls, then have the audacity to ask for more money. . . utter lunacy

How. Big a carbon footprint? What's wrong with zoom teleconference, phone calls ...?
If we just cut out climate conferences we will add 100 years to the earth.

yes we must cut carbon dioxide emissions to save the rain forest !!! wait a minute don't trees need carbon dioxide and a warm climate to thrive . Ask any mower man that question, winter is a very quiet time for that industry .

It will be very hard to stop the deforestation of the forests of the Amazon because of all the corruption in that part of the world. All so Australia will not be helping by closing down our timber industry not only it makes other countries to strip their Forrest and we will have to play for it and our money goes overseas

Since they've been cutting trees down, there should've been a program to cut, clear and re-plant. Unfortunately they only started doing that 30, maybe 40 years ago and those trees are still growing. Their greed has caught up to them, and now they want more money.

It wasn't the Brazilian military that put Lula in JAIL! They were LULA’s allies! It started with Odebrecht and the president and director of Petrobrás Duque, all of them from his group! Military personnel arrived in the form of contingency, due to such Roubalheira! And so they acted correctly and didn't let the said thief be skinned, it was kept, for reuse!
