아이슬란드, 700년 만에 녹아내린 빙하 위해 '장례식' 열어

Officials in Iceland and climate change activists held a funeral on Sunday for the Okjokull Glacier - the country's first glacier lost to climate change.
The attendees said goodbye to the 700 year-old glacier with poems, a moment of silence and speeches about the pressing need to fight climate change.
During the ceremony,... a memorial plaque was installed where the lost glacier used to cover about 15 square kilometers.
Calling for immediate action... they said that, over the next 200 years, all of Iceland's glaciers are expected to disappear because of climate change.

So why are they still wearing gear to keep them warm? It's just natural.

Okjökull glacier was a glacier in western Iceland on top of the volcanic mountain Ok.
Located in Langjökull.

Under Langjökull there are two or more volcanic systems. The calderas can easily be seen from the air. The best known of these is Hveravellir with its hot spring and high temperature area to the east of the glacier.

Iceland sits astride the middle of the Mid-Atlantic Ridge, which is an integral part of the global mid-oceanic ridge system. This ridge is a 40.000 km crack in the ocean floor caused by the separation of the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates. Iceland is home to 32 volcanic systems encompassing around 130 volcanic mountains
