LMAO, my brothers and I always thought this scene was hilarious when we were kids. The part where Mario turned that flip before going through the wall and the expression on his face.

As Mario falls into the other dimension, he is clearly cycling through colors, much like he does in the video games when he recieves a Starman power up.

Oh i get it.
The meteorite is the "power star" from the games so when he traverses the dimensional portal he gets all trippy and rainbowy because "power star effect".

I had a nightmare like this once. Much like this but quite different.

I walked through a mirror that looked like even a gateway to another realm. I fell through a vortex disintegrating and reintegrating the same thing again as I entered the next gateway into the other realm from the realm of Earth. Talk about deja vu.
