The inverted crucifix signifies "unworthiness", meaning to say those monks being turned upside down are marked unworthy of forgiveness and they belong in hell. Also the blooming of flowers and the shattered sky signifies when the evil rose, goodness follows to battle too. That's because good and evil is always side by side.

This movie was surprisingly decent. I’ve watched a boat load of possession/other non human worldly movies, like a LOT, so to say I’ve seen it all is a very close to accurate statement. I’ve watched a few movies that shared similar premise, and even though I knew right away something was up especially after the first time seeing a bowl of human slushy, it wasn’t half bad.
