All the drawer, cabinet, and desk locks at every office job I've had were wafer locks. At my first desk job, I went around and picked them all and thought I was hot shit. I can't really pick anything else. So what I'm saying is, I can rake a really bad lock.

This video is 6 years old and it just helped me with my wafer locks, I had alot of trouble with single pin picking these but my rake seems to be magical, thank you.

hoping that you are keeping well!!
of course one misses your August presence on YT, but knowing that you helped a friend in trouble, and awoke to your 'real life's needs, all good!
I'm dropping this comment here, because, having purchased a multipick 17 kit, i was poking away at a wafer lock on my little bedside table (it was Nokia surplus), and never opened the drawer in 15 years...well, after watching your method with a Bogota rake, it was almost magic, picked it in less than 20 seconds! First successful pick!
keep on keeping well!

In my experience the waffer lock is most comonly used in cars even "high security" car locks with lazer cut keys are a form of waffer lock, but they get much more sophisticated with the use of sidebars, split waffers with tabs ridding on the inner grooves, or a clutch mechanism in some cars like bmw and audi/ vw which allow the lock to turn 360 without activating the tail piece.
So the waffer lock should not be overlooked, especially if you intend to work with cars. The basic waffer lock is a good starting groud for understanding these types of locks. Also great for learning how to impression, though they do mark differently than pin tumblers.
Great video as always bill. Would love to see you get into more high security locks such as medeco and multi lock etc.
Happy hollidays to all.

I am a 12 year old kid, I didn't know I had a wafer lock on my window, it was the first lock I ever picked using the pin tumbler techniques.now I know another way to do it.

I find a city rake to be quite effective on wafer locks for some reason.

Have you picked an AVA? They are strictly a wafer lock but are rather better made.

there is a wafer lock on a cabnet at my house and it opens if you put tension on it and push a triple peak in it once

I recently came across the wafer lock. Apparently this obsolete lock design is used for desk locks and sometimes they open the Russian way (opposite turn, and it took me 3 tries before realizing it). They're pretty easy to single pick, rake, and rock them open.

What camera do you use for your lock cam? The one you put in the keyway to look into what the core looks like, before any of you ask.

Wafer locks are still used extensively in cabinets.

First lock i picked was a wafer...My teacher didn't have his window keys with him on a very warm summer day and..well...used the awl of my swiss army knife :D
Lots of schools in Germany still use Wafer locks for windows, lockers and drawers^^

Where did you get your lock vise? I've looked around and can't find one that size that can be easily moved. Thanks for the help
