Your solution is technically not correct, or at least is not ideal: You were spinning it *clockwise*, which is why it doesn't work facing up and you had to flip it upside down. If you kept it facing up and spun *counterclockwise*, it comes off immediately. That is the beauty and subtlety of the puzzle. Note that your "clockwise upside down" is equivalent to "counterclockwise rightside up".
