The moral of this story is : One brother choose to live for money, the other one choose to live for love.
One die on a bath of money, the other one live with his love and love make him win money.

"I wake up every morning wishing I didn't know the answer to that question. If it wasn't for Rama and Allah, I'd still have a mother."

Some critic called this movie "2 hours of unbelievable happiness!"

This movie is actually super dark and gritty, the only happy part is the ending. The critic must have meant '2 minutes'

Omg. Just watched this movie and, to those os you who haven't seen it yet gotta say: go watch it right now!! Seriously. It an incredible piece of art. Thrilling, touching and most of the times it makes you wonder about the cruelty of human beings despite of telling a love story that will keep you glued to your seat till the end. AMAZING. 10/10

One of the best stories I've ever seen at the cinema, the small theater of about ~30 of us stood up and applauded for a good 20 seconds after it ended, and people were visibly crying outside the theater, including my 16 year old self.

Okay, some Indians are getting mad saying this doesn't represent India and it is giving us bad names. Seems like you don't get one of the message this movie try to show you.
It represents the life of slums, how they are living poor and very difficult lives. And there are lots of slum areas. It wants us to understand their lives so that we can help them. We should not ignore this and be ignorent about it.

I watched this movie 12 years ago in USA. And I watch it every time I need a spiritual lift or feel I am challenged by something so great that I need help. This is a wonderful and inspiring movie. For me, the fact that it comes from Mother India makes it even more of a blessing for all! Namaste, all my brothers and sisters in Light.

Seriously, people have different perspectives and taste in movies. In my opinion, this is one of best movies I have watched. For the ones that didn't liked it, you have your own opinion, and you don't have to say that people who liked it are "mainstream" or "have no taste in films". Enough is enough, we have different views. Peace

I cried watching this. A superb film that invokes so many emotions, from the joy of watching him jumping in poo to get an autograph from his idol, to the sadness of seeing his brother betray him so grotesquely… it also captured a true depiction of India.
