My Go-To Map Layers in Gaia GPS (For Hiking)

In this video I'll walk through the diffeent map layers that I find useful when planning nad going on a hike using Gaia GPS. I'll show you which specific maps make sense and why, and also show you how I check for rain, snow, wildfires, cell reception, and overgrown trails.

I noticed the headline for this video when you posted it a month ago and download the Gaia app without watching your video. I've been playing around with it all month and have used it to route and save numerous trails I plan to hike in the coming months. Then today I finally watched this video and discovered that I've already learned most of what you demonstrated here, just by exploring the features. Thanks so much, I’ve tried to use Gaia a few times and found it confusing. Your videos changed all of that. Now it just makes sense and I use it extensively for hiking, MTB, Dirt Biking and Jeeping. It really is a one stop shop for navigating.

Nice Exactly what I needed and much more! Only thing I can add is I like "USFS 2016" overlaid with "USFS Roads and Streets" since are both USFS they overlay perfectly and are complimentary.

The free version of Gaia will actually buffer a reasonable area around where you have used it online. This allows some offline usage for people who want to work with it a bit before spending any money on Premium. Based on this video, I think Premium probably still well worth the cost for active hikers, hunters, SAR personnel, etc.

Newbie ? just purchased gaia premium thru your Video...looking thru NatGeo Trails for Paintbrush Canyon(Grand Teton) and it doesnt show the mile segments..is there a setting to show those or are they only on certain ones? If you have Time...Great ....If Not I understand
